Polarized Sunglasses And Their Many Uses

For years, people who enjoy boating and fishing have used polarized sunglasses to reduce reflected glare from the water .But now, because of the lower costs of polarized lenses, many others who spend time outdoors have discovered the benefits of polarized lenses.  Years ago when polarized lenses first made their inception, the cost of polarization was much more expensive. Besides boaters and anglers, others who benefit the most from polarized sunglasses include skiers, bikers, kayakers, golfers, surfers and joggers, who enjoy a clearer view along with elimination of glare. Polarized lenses also enable the user to see brighter, more vibrant colors. Polarized sunglasses are great for driving and, in fact, can reduce glare from a long, horizontal surface, such as the hood of the car or the road's surface. Polarized sunglasses can also be used indoors by light-sensitive people, and it's very important to get polarized sunglasses that have UV protection.
The way polarized lenses work: Light reflected from surfaces like a flat road or smooth water is generally horizontally polarized. This horizontally polarized light is blocked by the vertically placed polarizers in the lenses. Polarized lenses work similar to a Venetian blind, refracting and redirecting glare. Polarized lenses are designed for eliminating glare. There is a difference between Discomfort Glare and Disability Glare. Discomfort Glare causes discomfort, annoyance, fatigue and pain. Disability glare produces a reduction in the visibility distance of low-contrast objects.
Polarized sunglasses also can be effective on snow-covered surfaces. Some experts say they can reduce the intense glare that is caused by sunlight reflecting off snow. In addition, polarized lenses may also react adversely with liquid crystal displays found on the dashboards of some cars or in other places such as the digital screens on automatic teller machines. The problem with LCDs is that when viewed through polarized lenses from a certain angle, they can be invisible.
FishGillz Sunglass Company offers a line of high quality polarized sunglasses, that also float if dropped in the water. Besides the floating feature, FishGillz have ultra-light frames that only weigh 1/2 of an ounce. FishGillz sunglasses have wrap-around sports frames, UV protected side panels, and a high performance non-slip design.
